P0202 is a generic OBD-II fault code indicating an electrical malfunction in the fuel injector circuit for cylinder 2. The ECU monitors the injector driver signal and stores P0202 when the voltage or current on cylinder 2’s injector is out of range – typically an open circuit, short to earth, or a failed injector solenoid. The code points to the cylinder 2 injector circuit specifically, not the injector itself, so wiring, connectors and the injector must all be tested.

Drivers usually notice the engine management light first, alongside a clear misfire from cylinder 2 – lumpy idle, juddering at low revs, hesitation when accelerating, and a drop in mpg. On VAG TSI/TFSI engines you may feel a flat spot under load or the car may drop into limp mode to protect the catalytic converter.
